KUK Ordering System Thesis

From Excel forms to a complete web-based ordering and approval platform

About

This diploma thesis documents the development of the KUK ordering system for Oberösterreichische Gesundheitsholding (OÖG), created as part of the HTL Leonding final project.

The project replaced manual Excel-and-email ordering with a centralized web application hosted on Microsoft IIS with SQL database integration.

Its goal was to improve traceability, approval speed, and transparency across internal ordering processes.

Key features

  • Web-based order capture with unique order IDs for tracking.
  • Active Directory authentication with role-based access control.
  • Multi-step approval workflow with automated notifications.
  • Supplier management directly in the application.
  • Relational database reporting and evaluation for order data.
  • PDF export of orders including attachments.
  • Complete technical and process documentation in thesis format.

Project Impact

  1. Organizations replacing spreadsheet-based request and approval flows.
  2. Teams needing stronger process traceability and reporting.
  3. Students and developers interested in enterprise web system architecture.
  4. Reviewers who want full context of methodology, implementation, and outcomes.
